-7:15-9:45: Meeting with Dr. Perez, Mark and Juan Carlos
9:45-10:00: Called companies to address payment issues on procurement card.
11:00-3:00 pm: Worked on protocol for excising venom glands used in molecular cloning. Wrote letter of recommendation for Gloria Chapa.
3:35-4:15 pm: Dealt with Burt Edmond from Beckman on setting up the Allegra 64 centrifuge. Spoke with Jacob on the phone regarding statistical issue on the crotatroxin paper. Spoke to a student who wants to volunteer at the NTRC.
4:15-5:30 pm: Finished protocol and e-mailed it to Dr. Perez for review.
5:30-6:00 pm: Made modifications on Crotatroxin paper.

3:45-4:45 pm: Met with Lisa and Esteban regarding issues with Sonoclot and 2D fractions.

9:45-12:00 pm: Worked on Crotatroxin paper and sent if off to Dr. McLane.
1:15 pm-1:30 pm: Met with a Biology student looking for research experience.

10:00-10:20 am: Met with Sharmin in accounting to transfer funds for purchasing equipment.
10:20-10:30 am: Order more supplies.
10:30-11:00 am: Worked on B. colombiensis paper
11:00-11:55 am: Went to Wal-Mart to buy portable oven for baking crucibles for molecular biology
1:00-1:17 pm: Checked e-mail and sent off e-mails
1:17-2:30 pm: Assisted in extracting venom from ~30 snakes. Mark Hockmueller was doing the extraction today.
2:30-3:15 pm: Reviewed Renato's mRNA extraction protocol.
4:00-5:30 pm: Worked on B. colombiensis paper.

8-8:15 am-Met with Lisa, Meli, Esteban and Gonz regarding assay results with PF2D fractions.
8:15-9:30-Met with Nora and Dr. Perez regarding NTRC issues.
9:30-12:30-Met with Dr. Perez regarding time and effort.
1:30-2:30-Logged into University Chase Account to input my purchases.
2:30-3:15-Worked on Crotatroxin paper.
3:45-4:14- Met with Dr. Martinez regarding the 1st sequence of Crotatroxin 1 to be used in publication. The sequence for Crotatroxin 2 will be finished by Friday.
4:15-5:30- Spoke with Dr. Julio Soto regarding the last paper submitted. Revisions will be made according to reviewers comments. Dr. Soto spoke about the assays that will be performed with the 11 mutants of Mojastin.
5:30-6:00-Spoke with Jacob regarding crotatroxin paper and his results of whole venom analysis by mass spectrometry.
9:00pm-3:30 am- Worked on Crotatroxin paper.

Friday August 04

-Gathered all NTRC publications for Arts and Science.
-Met with Lisa regarding her research.
-Weighed out 6 different venoms for Andrew.
-A bottle of acetic acid and gluteraldehyde broke in front of biology. Called Chris Tweddle and area was blocked off until it was cleaned.
-E-mailed Dr. Knutson on the dates for the seminar speakers. She will be out next week also, so we will resolve the week after. Forward the e-mails to Dr. Perez, Nora and Mark.
-E-mailed Dr. Tao regarding his September seminar. Forward info to Dr. Perez, Nora and Mark.
-E-mailed Tony Ramirez regarding the Honorable Juan M. Escobar's visit. Forward info to Dr. Perez, Nora and Mark.
-Ordered ECIS arrays for Rene.
-Attended graduation at 4:00. Gonzalo Lopez and Steven Reyes graduated.

Thurday August 03-Lost the Blog

I had posted my blog for Thursday, but the system had some error and now it appears to be lost.

Anyways-I met with Dr. Perez from 7:30-9:00 regarding reports for clients. How can we improve them, file them and route them through proper channels.

9:00 -9:45 Dr. Perez and I met with Luis regarding Western blots.

9:50-10:15 Dr. Perez and I met with Gonzalo on his employment status.

-Met with Lisa regarding IEF gels on Micrurus fulvius fulvius venom.

-Ordered Reagents for Luis.
-Met with McNairs Scholar's Director, Myra Torres on paper work completion of the students.

-5:00-6:30 Met with Dr. Perez regarding different approach on training researchers.
